Inside of each SCANFC products* / Utility patented Patech are a chip that can store information. Using NFC (Near Field Communication) this chip gets powered on when you bring an NFC-enabled phone close to it within a very short range around 2cm; NO batteries are needed. Once you’re in close range, you can now either write information to the chip (eg. the link to a website or a link to a playlist) or read the information that is stored on a chip.
Just simply use your NFC smartphone to tap on it and pop up the secrete function inside.
For example:
Play your music library from Apple Music, Spotify, etc.
By using the shortcuts app and you can use it to control your HomeKit devices.
NO! NFC background reading is a basic phone feature on iPhone Xs, Xs Max, Xr, SE, 11, 11 Pro, 12, 12 Pro, and NFC enabled Android devices.
Yes! You may use a Third-party app like Shortcuts for iPhone or NFC Writer app.
iPhone Xs, Xs Max, Xr, 11, 11 Pro, SE 2020, 12, 12mini, 12 Pro are native support NFC Reading. This means that you don’t need to open an app and your phone will scan the Patech automatically when you hold the top of your phone close to it. iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, and X also have an NFC sensor and you need to enable the NFC tag reader function in the control center before scanning the SCANFC products* / Patech. iPhone 6s and older do not offer NFC capability.
In general, all services that offer a ‘link’ work with SCANFC products*/ Patech. We’re doing a lot of testing and are building software improvements around different use cases. For the music use case: Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, etc. For iOS users, you may use the shortcuts app for NFC automation.
